Believe it or not: CM Arvind Kejriwal's June electricity bill is Rs 1.35 lakh

New Delhi: The power bill for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence stood at over Rs 1.35 lakh for the month of June which prompted Congress and BJP to pounce on the AAP government with both the parties accusing it of wasting public money for personal comfort. AFP[/caption] The total bill was for two-metered connections at Kejriwal’s residence at 6, Flag Staff Road in Civil Lines. The revelation came after Pratyush Kanth, who had contested the assembly election from Kirari on a Congress ticket attached a copy of the bill to the letter he had written to the Chief Minister accusing him of lying to voters, reports Hindustan Times. While one bill charged Rs 22,689, the amount quoted in the second bill was Rs 1,13,598. Responding to an RTI application, the Delhi government had last month said that the electricity charges at Kejriwal’s residence for April and May was about Rs 91,000. After the electricity bill for April and May came out, the Delhi government had said it included electricity charges for a camp office and various other facilities installed for visitors at the complex. It said the actual bill for electricity consumption at the Chief Minister’s residence was much lower. Sources said Kejriwal’s residence has over 30 air-conditioners besides a number of air coolers. Meanwhile, sources said that according to a distribution company which supplies power in Civil Lines area it may send a notice to Chief Minister’s residence for using domestic connection for office work. “Arvind Kejriwal is wasting public fund for personal use. After coming to power, the AAP leaders had said they will not indulge in luxury and will live like a common man. What they are doing now,” DPCC president Ajay Maken asked. BJP leader Vijendra Gupta also attacked Kejriwal saying he was wasting public funds for personal comfort. “This is not at all acceptable. They are splurging public funds for personal comfort. People of Delhi are now knowing about real face of AAP,” he said. With PTI inputs
