Rishad Premji, the son of Wipro founder Azim Premji, has been working with Wipro for more than four years.In his first media interview given to The Economic Times , the scion of the Premji family revealed his thoughts on how it felt coming back from abroad and working in India.

Rishad, currently chief strategy officer, Wipro IT business, has worked in several capacities: he was part of the banking and financial services group, running the mortgage business and then went on to become an integration manager in the acquisition section. After that, he became an investor relations manager," which, according to him, was “one of the funnest jobs anyone can have”.

In the interview, he also explains why billionaire investor Warren Buffett, whose values and philanthropy, he believes, are akin to those of his father, is probably the only role model for him.

As far as Wipro is concerned, Rishad said the focus of the company still remains the IT services industry, which brings in 95 percent of the company’s profit and 90 percent of revenues. However, he describes the consumer industry as “a very exciting business”.

He also pointed out that he’s been granted no privileges for being a Premji, noting that “people at Wipro are not influenced or swayed by the last name you carry.”
