VMware: vCloud Suite adoption growing in India

VMware said it is seeing growing adoption of VMware vCloud Suite among enterprises in India. Based on Software-Defined Data Center architecture, VMware vCloud Suite is an integrated offering for building and managing a VMware vSphere private cloud. “Today, IT organisations need to rapidly transform and partner with the business to stay competitive in a dynamic business environment," said Arun Parameswaran, Managing Director, VMware India. “The ability to drive real impact has made the software-defined data centre mainstream among leading businesses in India. We’re seeing our local customers increasingly adopt our vision for the software-defined data centre to deliver the automation, operations and business management capabilities that make IT a strategic partner to the business." [caption id=“attachment_2008783” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Reuters Reuters[/caption] Some of its customers include EdgeVerve- an Infosys Company, IGATE, Max Life Insurance Company, and Chitale Dairy among others. According to an IDC report commissioned by VMware, customers in India are expected to save an estimated $4 billion between 2014 and 2020 by adopting a software-defined approach to managing IT. These figures reflect operational costs associated with power consumption, cooling, real estate and server administration. Earlier this year, VMware inaugurated its 438,000 square foot facility in Bangalore – a total investment of $120 million. VMware has over 3,500 customers in India.
