Robert Vadra’s questionable business deals now seems to expand beyond realty major DLF. Vadra’s firm Real Earth Estates Ltd bought 27 acre land in Haryana’s Mewat district allegedly below the government approved circle rates, villagers in the area say.
The Sonia Gandhi son-in-law made these investments by directly buying land from farmers in 2008 and 2009, as reported in a CNN-IBN exclusive.[caption id=“attachment_486379” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Robert Vadra.[/caption]
The CNN-IBN report citing documents in possession with them said that Vadra bought land around Mewat at an average price of Rs 2.6 lakh an acre during 2009. What is noteworthy that during that time, the collector’s circle rate for property in the villages Shakarpuri and Ferozepur Jhirka in Mewat was Rs 16 lakh per acre.
The documents reveal that Messrs Real Earth Estates Private Limited bought the land through its director Robert Vadra.
Vadra’s firm purchased land from villagers at these rates:
Ruby Tabassum: 2 acres sold for Rs 7 lakh
Anand Dutch Foods India Ltd: 8 acres sold for Rs 20 lakh
Memoona: 2 acres sold for Rs 7 lakh
Razia: 2 acres sold for Rs 7 lakh
Subhash Chand: 2 acres sold for Rs 6 lakh
Firdaus Begum: 11 acres Sold for Rs 24 lakh
The circle rates are considered the base price for sale of land for revenue purposes and are usually far below the market price of the land. Ironically, the firm paid up stamp duty on the official collector rate of Rs 16 lakh an acre.
Not far from the national capital, a property in a place like Mewat, is always sought for those with pelf and power.
Former Haryana chief minister and chief of opposition party Indian National Lok Dal Om Parkash Chautala said that the land was purchased at these low prices from one Aftab Ahmed, a Congressman.

More ShortsWhen contacted by CNN-IBN, Ahmed said, “The collector rate is same for the whole district. The land was sold at the rate prevailing during that time.”
Chautala alleged that Ahmad was given a ticket to contest assembly elections just around the time the sale went through at the low prices.
The former chief minister said that additional land belonging to a Congress MLA’s family in Shakarpuri village was included in the residential zone in the urban development plan, resulting in prices going north sharply.
