New Delhi: India’s two-wheeler market leader Hero MotoCorp today said the strike by transporters in Haryana has hit half of its despataches from Gurgaon and Dharuhera plants. “The transporters’ strike today has impacted the despatches from our plants in Gurgaon and Dharuhera. We could despatch only half of our average daily despatches from these two plants today,” the company said in a filing to the BSE. [caption id=“attachment_1078659” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] !

Hero MotoCorp said it is trying to make alternative arrangements to minimise further impact. “We hope the authorities and the Automobile Carrier Welfare Association (ACWA) will be able to resolve the issue amicably at the earliest,” it added. ACWA, which claims to have 60,000 truckers in its fold, had gone on strike against the non-renewal of fitness certificates by the state government as the vehicles were “oversized” and exceeded specified dimensions. The strike has, however, not impacted car market leader Maruti Suzuki as its transporters, under the of aegis Car Carrier Association, are not a part of the strike. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp has also increased the prices of its two-wheelers across models, ranging from Rs 900 on its scooter model Pleasure to Rs 3,700 on high-end bike Karizma ZMR, following the withdrawal of excise duty concession to the auto sector by the government. The company’s scooter Pleasure will now be available at Rs 44,550, while Karizma ZMR will now cost Rs 1,05,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). PTI
