Foodpanda earns revenue by enabling restaurants to bring their menus online and extend their customer base. Using analytics and user-generated recommendations, the platform helps restaurants increase sales. Just Eat was first launched as Hungry Bangalore, but changed to Just Eat in 2011 when it was acquired by the international brand which competes with Foodpanda around the world. The company has now received a minority holding in Foodpanda.in as a part of the deal, and the management will be kept on as well. The Press Release states, “ In India, foodpanda consolidated its market leading position by taking over JustEat’s India operations following the integration of the former Delivery Hero business TastyKhana in November 2014. It also acquired key competitors in a number of other Asian markets”. “These are exciting times for us. There has been a tremendous response to our brand & service, and with this acquisition we’re confident that when people think of food delivery, there will be just one answer - foodpanda,” said Rohit Chadda, Co-Founder and Managing Director, foodpanda India.
