In a bid to get more Indians, particularly retailers, excited about the e-commerce buzz that has captured the nation, several retail websites have expanded their services to include education modules for sellers, The__Economic Times reports.
The likes of Amazon, eBay and Flipkart have invested in digital literacy programs to help online vendors better market and deliver their products, thereby increasing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
According to_ET,_there are lessons on how to click a correct product photo, write an accurate description, manage inventory and stay on top of operations such as feedback monitoring and warehousing.
Snapdeal’s head of logistics, Saurabh Goyal, told the paper that the online platform intends on starting an offline classroom by the end of April in cities across India. The site demands that retailers go through a thorough training, which includes videos and written components, before listing on Snapdeal.
Similarly, eBay hosts weekly webinars, created a ’learn-to-sell’ module and a toll-free helpline number to simplify the online listing and selling process, while Amazon has created an accelerator for small businesses to get more merchants selling online.
A recent Internet and Mobile Association of India report pegged the number of online retailers in the country at nearly one million. Add the fact that a recent American Express report suggests India’s online shoppers could reach 38 million by 2015, and it makes sense why online retail platforms are pushing for digital educational programs.
