An ATM-like machine that serves you dosas and Chinese food in 90 seconds? Yes, please!
The_Economic Times_has reported today that Chennai-basedAtchayam Foodbox has developed a device that serves snacks and hot meals from popular restaurants with the press of a few buttons and swipe of a card.
The company’s co-founders Satish Chamy Velumani calls the Foodbox an “intelligent restaurant,“adding that it is much more than a vending machine.

The food is pre-packaged from popular Chennai restaurants likeAasife and Brothers Biriyani, Moti Mahal, Amaravathi and Mr Chows and stored in a climate controlled environment. Packages are not stored in the machine for longer than six hours, to maintain quality.
For now you’ll have to go to Chennai’sDLF IT Park or the private bus terminus at Koyambedu to experience one of the Foodboxes. The company plans to open six more by 2015 across south India before expanding to the rest of the country. Sales at the DLF Park average between 70-80 items per day, while those at Koyambedu are between 200 and 300.
