Ant Farm to expand Meals on Wheels footprint, revamps website after buyout

For the pan-India expansion, the company plans to follow a hub-and-spoke model where SMEs and SMBs will be reached out as partners in the various cities that the company branches out.

Ant Farm to expand Meals on Wheels footprint, revamps website after buyout

Ant Farm, a digital and media internet firm, plans to expand the operations of Meals on Wheels, an online food delivery venture which it has acquired for Rs 14 crore, across Mumbai in the next three months and across the country in the next year.

“This acquisition is the first step for AntFarm to disrupt the local delivery service business through smart technology,“Rishi Khiani,MD& CEO, AntFarm, said in a press release.

According to Khiani, Meals on Wheels has partnerships, a robust active user base and a critical mass of orders-per-day, which can transform the industry.

Meals on Wheels website has been revamped to add new features and functionalities like order from your favourite restaurant, your favourite dish, etc, said Sandeep Das, CEO, Meals on Wheels. He said the aim is to multiply the orders.

Das said he is confident that the company will be able to double its sales this financial year from last year’s Rs 4 crore.

For the pan-India expansion, the company plans to follow a hub-and-spoke model where SMEs and SMBs will be reached out as partners in the various cities that the company branches out.

It will also add new verticals such as delivery of flowers, chocolates, groceries, etc in the future partnering with other local players.

Sources told Firstbiz that the acquisition was part in cash and stocks.
