SpiceJet's back with discount schemes: 5 lakh seats on offer starting at Rs 1,499

SpiceJet, the budget carrier that is being rescued by a clutch of investors, has restarted its discount sales by offering 500,000 seats at fares starting Rs 1,499. The sale is for the booking period between 28 January and 30 January, for travel between 15 February 15 and 30 June. The fare is all-inclusive and for one-way travelv [caption id=“attachment_2067801” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![AFP](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/spicejet-afp5.jpg) AFP[/caption] The offer is applicable on all direct flights on SpiceJet’s domestic network and is available on first come first served basis, a press release from the airline said, adding that seats per flight are limited. The press release also said that customers will be able to sample SpiceJet’s enhanced schedule which will be launched from February 1. It has promised to further enhance the network and schedule in the summer schedule starting 29 March. The company, at present owned by Kalanithi Maran and KAL Airways and in the death throes until recently, is being bought by its co-founder Ajay Singh and few other investors. The new investors have agreed to infuse Rs 1500 crore equity by 30 April. As per the proposal, Maran and KAL Airways will sell their entire stake to Singh and others. “Such Super Sale offers are meant to sell in advance at attractive prices, seats that would otherwise be expected to go empty, thereby improving revenues,” said chief commercial officer Kaneswaran Avili has been quoted as saying in the press release. Chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor thanked the customers and partners for the patience and support they provided through the company’s restructuring. “The return of our super sale is a continued vote of confidence in the fact that such sales and promotions, if done right, are a win-win-win for customers, airlines, and the travel ecosystem at large”, he said.
