Snapdeal has tied-up with dPronto, for its offering in last mile delivery across India. This partnership will help Snapdeal expand its offering of same day delivery to a larger customer base.
Under this arrangement, dPronto’s trained delivery staff will pick up packages from Snapdeal’s sellers or fulfillment centers and deliver to customers on the same day the order is placed. Currently Snapdeal’s success rate is 90 per cent in same day delivery.
dPronto is a last mile delivery (including hyper local logistics) company which has built its business model around e-commerce companies (including hyperlocal market places). It aims to provide last mile logistics services for e-commerce companies by leveraging trained fresh manpower supply, disruptive technology and efficient processes that minimize delivery turnaround times and optimize costs.
dPronto is leveraging its group company, Empower Pragati’s vast mobilization and skill training network, spread across 600 towns in India, to train and hire logistics staff. Through this tie-up with dPronto and the group company, Snapdeal will help in ensuring a large number of underprivileged youth in India get dignified jobs.
E-commerce logistics including last mile logistics is a critical element in the online retail market and is pegged to reach $5.1 billion by 2020. Last mile logistics, the space dPronto is operating in, is considered a pain point by many e-commerce companies and is critical as it serves as an end-customer touch point. Last mile logistics alone constitutes 40 percent of e-commerce logistics and is expected to grow at CAGR 48 percent to reach $2.1 billion by 2020.
Ashish Chitravanshi, Vice President, Operations at Snapdeal said, “dPronto’s initiative of empowering the less privileged youth by making them employable is highly commendable. We are excited to be partnering with them to further strengthen our last mile delivery capabilities as we remain committed to our promise of catering to every customer in every pin code.”
Rajiv Sharma, Managing Director and Co-Founder of dPronto said, “We are confident that this partnership will scale rapidly to reach many additional towns and thereby help in transforming the lives of underprivileged youth in those towns.”
