The beginning of the third year of the Narendra Modi government rule is fast becoming a forgettable one for the NDA, at least on the Twitter. What nailed it today is the latest move by the government of increasing the prices of various fuels. #RollBackFuelHike: Modi trolls Modi as oil cos hike petrol, diesel prices

The beginning of the third year of the Narendra Modi government rule is fast becoming a forgettable one for the NDA, at least on the Twitter. What nailed it today is the latest move by the government of increasing the prices of various fuels. [caption id=“attachment_2809976” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Reuters](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Petrol1_Reuters.jpg) Reuters[/caption] The public sector oil marketing companies on Tuesday late night increased the petrol price by Rs 2.58 a litre and diesel by Rs 2.26 per litre. It is the second increase in rates this month. Petrol will cost Rs 65.60 per litre in Delhi after the increase while diesel will cost Rs 53.93/litre. Prices were last hiked on May 17. Justifying the price hike Indian Oil Corp (IOC) said, “The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant increase in price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision.” Adding to the bad news for the consumers was a further 9.2 percent increase in the aviation turbine fuel and Rs 21 increase in that of non-subsidised LPG cylinders. This was announced early morning today. The increase in ATF prices is likely to have a cascading effect on the air tickets if airlines decide to pass on the hike to the consumers. In reaction, #RollBackFuelHike trended on Twitter as users dug out old tweets of Modi and other NDA ministers criticising the UPA government whenever a price increase in these items was affected.
