Powered by Big Data, HP aims to simplify enterprise mobile app lifecycle management

HP Software is bullish about its growth prospects in India as more and more businesses are undertaking ‘digital transformation’ journey. The company sees huge scope for its Big Data-powered mobile application lifecycle management services in the Indian enterprise segment. Kamal Dutta, VP & head-IT management business unit, Asia Pacific & Japan, HP Software, said, “As Indian businesses here are looking to grow revenue, diversify, and expand into different markets, we see immense opportunity here.” [caption id=“attachment_2216620” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![hp-goa](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/hp-goa.jpg) Right to Left: Kamal Dutta, VP & head-IT management business unit, APJ, HP Software & Saurabh Saxena, country director-India, HP Software[/caption] As enterprises re-think mobility strategies, HP Software aims to help organizations achieve 5-star ratings for their mobile apps. With its new Big Data-powered offerings, the company enables organizations to accelerate the delivery of every phase of the mobile app lifecycle, from creation and pre-production, to delivery and post-production management. “Mobile applications are increasingly becoming the “front door” for a company’s brand, and future revenue and market share often depends on an end user’s immediate overall app experience,” Dutta explained. “We don’t download an application which is not rated 4-5 stars. HP Software is talking about building mobile apps in a manner which is agile and fast. Gone are the days when you can wait for a year to launch an application. HP can help customers move from one year app cycle into months and weeks. Hence, we expect our mobile app lifecycle management solutions to gain lot of traction in the country.” IT service management (ITSM) is another area where HP sees growth opportunities coming from, as the company aims to transform the traditional ITSM into a personal experience. Additionally, the company is looking to take businesses to the next level of IT processes maturity. “Today, most businesses are in a “reactive” phase. However, HP wants to analyze all the data under the notion of Big Data, weave it with connected intelligence, and then enable businesses to move from “reactive” state into a more applied and managed “proactive” state, and finally into a state where they can get into a predictive operations,” Dutta noted. HP has technologies which has 400 interfaces to collect human information, ArcSight that collects machine log information through 300 connectors_._ The company can collect all this data, store it and analyse it using Vertica – the Big Data analytics engine – and then come out with the actionable insights. “HP is collecting all data, putting it in one place, analyzing it, and then giving a ‘Google’ to our enterprise customers. By putting Big Data engine as an appliance underneath all the traditional areas of touch points in IT – cloud, mobility, IT operation, ITSM, app development, we are ready to do Big Data for our customers’ IT operations, ITSM, mobile applications, and devOPs,,” he added. Additionally, the company will provide the engine as a bundled, virtualization plug-n-play appliance, along with a dashboard. “We are not asking businesses to scrap their earlier investments; but reuse those tools, giving a layer above, consolidating everything, and offering it both - on-premise or cloud. We can correlate events and come out with a single causal event, thus simplifying IT management process and making it more efficient,” said Dutta. Talking about customers, Dutta said the biggest ones are still the big IT consumers like banks and telecom firms but he expects some to come in from industries such as travel and hospitality or media with digitalization of businesses. HP also feels it can trump competitors with a holistic solution that addresses customers’ end-to-end requirements. “We see our traction with our customers increasing in some of the verticals BFSI, telecom, new age startups. Our innovations are finding traction in the market. It’s more of value engagement rather than product engagement happening. Hence, we are very bullish about our solutions and innovations in the market. India is one of the critical markets for HP Software worldwide,” Dutta concluded.
