The ceremony also means that barring senior Finance Ministry officials, all officials and support staff who are part of the process of printing the budget cannot go home have to stay in the ministry until the document is presented in Parliament. The Finance Minister has cooked the halwa and has kickstarted the process for the printing of the Union Budget. Markets will be hoping Jaitley’s budget is as good as his halwa.
