This year isn’t great for agriculture, clearly. India has received 45 percent less rainfall in the first spell till June 17. The Met department has forecasted monsoon to be below normal at 93 percent of the long period average. That’s plain bad news. But, there are some sectors that are likely to benefit because of the dry spell. Here’s a look at who will gain. The first one, is manufactures of Air Conditioners. It’s an extended summer and it’s too hot. More and more people are likely to buy ACs and coolers to beat the heat before the monsoon arrives, hopefully by July second week. Image: Reuters[/caption]

Last but not least come inverters. These products are likely to pick up sales this year even if the rains pick up towards later part of the monsoon. This is because power generation is likely to suffer due to the deficient rains, which will warrant power cuts and long hours of load-sheddings. This would mean people’s dependence on inverters and other such generation sets will increase. Reuters[/caption]
