PTI[/caption] Speaking to reporters this evening, Bassi said, “We had information that some people were unauthorisedly photo copying documents and giving it to others for a reward. Based on that information, we laid a trap at Shastri Bhavan and arrested three people who were in possession of classified documents. We questioned them and also caught hold of others who were assisting them.” The police commissioner further said that investigating officials have identified the recipients of the documents and are currently questioning them. “The accused will be charged under Official Secrets Act if the act falls under it. It has been going on for a while. Documents were obtained by individual consultants linked to companies operating in the energy sector,” he said. “When the office was shut, they would enter the premises with fake ids and duplicate keys,” Bassi said, adding that he would not reveal which companies could be involved as raids were currently underway. Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, too, said strong action will be taken against the two employees of his ministry who were arrested by police for allegedly leaking confidential government documents to private companies. “They will be severely dealt with. Police is probing the case. We will take strong action against the guilty. Government will come down hard on them,” Pradhan said when asked about the case.
