The benchmark BSE Sensex and the boarder Nifty traded higher on Thursday, and looked set to snap three consecutive sessions of losses.
The 30-share Sensex was up nearly 400 points at 26,635 while the Nifty rose 1.42 percent to 7,953 points as gains tracked firm US and Asian markets.
Minutes from the US Federal Reserve meeting, released on Wednesday, suggested concerns about the economy, which may delay rate hikes.
Hindalco Industries gained 5.5 percent after global rival Alcoa Inc’s earnings beat forecasts.
