Mobile marketplace for local services Qyk gets funding, expects another round soon

Qyk, a Bangalore-based mobile marketplace for finding local services that was launched in November 2014 has raised an undisclosed sum of  funding from a group of angel investors including early investors of Ola, Housing and Delhivery. The company expects to raise another round in a few months. The start-up is as a one-stop platform for a wide range of local services such as wedding planners, interior designers, tutors, etc except for home services such as maids, masons, etc. Investors include Zishaan Hayath (Co-Founder of Toppr and Powai Lake Ventures), Abhishek Goyal (CEO and co-founder of Tracxn.com, ex-Accel Partners) and Sahil Barua (CEO and Co-Founder of Delhivery). Qyk offers the customer options tailored to his personalized needs by enabling comparisons and competitive quotes. This enables them to make a well informed choice, says Deepak Singhal, Co-Founder and CEO of Qyk. The service, available only in Bangalore now, has signed 500 vendors . The company plans to go to Mumbai and Delhi in the next three months and to five cities in eight months – Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad with 8000 - 10,000 vendors in each city and a million visitors yearly. Abhishek Goyal, early investor in Delhivery, says “There are two large players in local services, one is on-demand and the other is reverse auction. Reverse-auction business model is largely a technology play. Team Qyk’s approach of solving this problem via a mobile first product and their extensive experience in technology gives them a very big advantage to be the market leader.” Qyk can be downloaded on any smartphone. It lets you compare and hire quality local service providers. Customers can receive competitive quotes from the most relevant service providers to compare and save time and money. It’s free, too.
