M&M joins compact car race with Verito

Kolkata: Automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) would stick to Verito platform for its passenger car portfolio.

“M&M will use the Verito platform only to produce passenger cars by introducing a number of variants,” Ravinder Sahane, senior GM (brands) of M&M said today.

M&M was manufacturing the Verito series at its Nasik plant having a capacity of 3000 units per month. “If needed, the company will increase the capacity,” Sahane told reporters.

He said the company sold 15,000 units of Verito sedan last year, lower by 3000 units than the previous year. Sahane said that M&M would manufacture only diesel-powered passenger cars, adding that company’s expertise lies in diesel engines only.
