All matters with iGATE have been resolved, says Phaneesh Murthy

New Delhi: Former iGATE chief executive Phaneesh Murthy has “settled” all charges relating to a sexual misconduct case that had led to his sacking from the US-based outsourcing firm two years back. Murthy was earlier forced to quit from Infosys on a similar charge. The IT industry veteran, who continued to live in the US after the second alleged sexual misconduct was reported, said all issues with iGATE have been settled. He, however, did not comment on the details of the settlement. In May 2013, Murthy was sacked from iGATE for failing to disclose his relationship with a subordinate, Araceli Roiz, and alleged sexual harassment. Since then, Murthy had filed a law suit before a California court stating that iGATE knew about his relationship and “improperly” used the reporting policy to terminate him. iGATE, in its 2014 annual earnings report, said it had incurred a one-time charge for legal settlements of $4.6 million, without specifying details. Murthy, in his suit, had also said iGATE had withheld his vested stocks and various benefits due to him. One of the youngest directors and a rising star at India’s second largest software services firm Infosys, Murthy was forced to quit the firm in 2002 following a sexual harassment lawsuit that was settled out of court.
