Maruti's July sales rises 13% to over 1.37 lakh units, Royal Enfield's 31%

New Delhi: The country’s largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Monday posted a 12.7 percent rise in its total sales in July at 1,37,116 units as against 1,21,712 units in the same month a year ago. [caption id=“attachment_2654128” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Reuters[/caption] The company posted its best ever monthly domestic sales at 1,25,778 units, up 13.9 percent from 1,10,405 units in July 2015. Sales of mini segment cars, including, Alto and WagonR, however, declined by 7.2 percent to 35,051 units as compared to 37,752 units in the year-ago month, MSI said in a statement. The company said sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire and Baleno increased by 4.1 percent to 50,362 units in July this year as against 48,381 units in the corresponding month last year. MSI said sales of its compact sedan Dzire Tour declined by 9.2 percent during the month under review at 3,059 units as against 3,370 units in July 2015. Sales of mid sized sedan Ciaz rose two-fold to 5,162 units during the month. Sales of utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and recently launched compact SUV Vitara Brezza surged over two-fold to 17,382 units in July this year from 6,916 units in the corresponding month last year. Sales of vans - Omni and Eeco - rose 24.1 percent to 14,748 units in July this year as compared to 11,887 units in the same period of the previous year. Exports during the month rose marginally to 11,338 units as compared to 11,307 units in July last year, MSI said. Meanwhile, Royal Enfield reported a 31 percent rise in total motorcycle sales at 53,378 units in July. The company sold 40,760 units in the same month last year. In July, domestic sales surged 31 per cent to 52,128 units as against 39,867 units in the same month a year ago. Exports soared 40 per cent to 1,250 units compared with 893 units in the corresponding month last year.
