Lost your Aadhaar card? No big deal, you can get a duplicate in less than 5 minutes; here's how

British science fiction writer Sir Arthur Charles Clarke once said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is equivalent to magic.” And, this seems to be true when it comes to our Aadhaar system. For instance, do you know that you can get a duplicate Aadhaar card in less then five minutes? In case you lose your Aadhaar card, you just need to take six simple steps, that too online. Of course, you will need to know your Aadhaar or enrollment number (which you get once you apply for Aadhaar). That’s not difficult to get if you have already linked your Aadhaar to PAN, banks account and mobile number. Read on. [caption id=“attachment_3985593” align=“alignleft” width=“300”] ![Aadhaar. CNN-News18.[/caption] Step 1: Visit the official Aadhaar website here Step 2: Click ‘Download Aadhaar’ option under the ‘Aadhaar enrollment’ section at the lower left side of the home page. The application form opens up. Step 3: If you have your number, choose the Aadhaar number option and continue filling the form. In case you have only the 14 digit enrollment number, use that. Step 4: Authenticate using the one-time password. Step 5: You will get a PDF of your Aadhaar which is password protected. The password will be of 8 characters. Combination of the first 4 letters of name in capital and the year of birth (YYYY). For instance, • If the name appears on the aadhaar card as SURESH KUMAR and year of birth (YYYY) is 1990 then the password would be SURE1990 • If the name appears on the aadhaar card as SAI KUMAR and year of birth (YYYY) is 1990 then the password would be SAIK1990 • If the name appears on the aadhaar card as P. Kumar and year of birth (YYYY) is 1990 then the password would be P.KU1990 • InCase name only contains length less than four character like RIA and YOB 1990, then password will be RIA1990. Keep in mind you can get a duplicate Aadhaar even if you haven’t lost your card.
