Success – it is that achievable, but at times elusive entity that we all crave for. It means different things to different people. While some spend a lifetime in pursuit of it, others are fortunate enough to get a taste of it early in life. Be it personal life or professional or both, success is something we all are looking for. Speaking of personal and professional success, we are reminded of this rather cute couple from the DBS Chilli Paneer film – Asha and Ken. Head-over-heels in love and yet deeply committed to their work, they show you how important work-life balance is to succeed. After all, life is about holding on to some things, while letting the others go. As American actor and singer Annette Funicello had said, “Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.” It is something you’ve heard over and over again – ‘To become successful, learn to dream big’. The power of dreams cannot be undermined. They keep you awake and goad you to you give your best, thus pushing you towards your goal. How do you think Asha and Ken were able to open a second restaurant in Goa? It was their collective dream and they persisted at it because success, as they say, doesn’t come easy. There are chances you may fail, but then who’s afraid of that? Take failure in your stride and learn from it. Believe it or not, failures teach you some of life’s best lessons. In your quest for success, it is very likely that you will encounter challenges – some could be small, while some could leave you unsettled. Well, you must be brave enough to accept challenges and move on. Perhaps, you could take a leaf out of Asha and Ken’s book. Investing money, time and efforts in expanding their restaurant business was a huge challenge for the two of them. From taking stock of their finances to deciding to shuttle between two cities, Asha and Ken handled the sudden twist in their lives pretty well. If anything, challenges only test the limits of your endurance and make you stronger. Life is quite unpredictable and can land you in some of the most unexpected situations. It is therefore essential that you go by your instincts and take chances. It may or may not pay off, but it will definitely make you wiser. Remember, success is as much plan as much as it is chance. Now, let’s go back to the Chili Paneer video for a bit and recall Asha’s personality. She exuded warmth and had a pleasant air about her. Not to mention her endearing smile. All in all, she was quite the optimist, despite the occasional moments of self-doubt. Optimism keeps you going even in the face of adversity. In the end, a major part of success is hardwork. This piece of wisdom is as old as time, but it continues to and will continue to hold good for as long as there is mankind. There is nothing that can replace hardwork. From Thomas Edison to Steve Jobs, all are testimony to this. That toil, that struggle and finally, that much deserved success – it’s an unmatchable feeling.
