Jobs galore: 100% summer internships at XLRI in record 3.5 days

Despite the current economic slowdown, one of India’s top B schools XLRI Jamshedpur has managed to provide 100 percent summer internshipts to its largest ever batch in a record time of three-and-a-half days.

Despite the current economic slowdown, one of India’s top B schoolsXLRI Jamshedpur has managed to provide100 percent summer internships to its largest ever batch in a record time of three-and-a-half days.

According to a release issued by the premier B School, 105 companies made 336 offers to the institution’s largest batch of 303 students.

So the institute wrapped up the entire process in less than four days, even though the number of students this year was up by 26 percent.

In 2012, as many as 282 summer internship offers were made for 240 students.

Top recruiters on campus were Vodafone, Microsoft, ITC and Standard Chartered. Eventhe number of companies visiting the campus increased almost 44 percent this year, with 105 companies participating in the process compared with 73 in 2012.

The highest stipend offered was Rs 3 lakh for the internship period, the release added.

“The placement process at our campus concluded within four days, with 100 percent of the batch of 303 students getting meaningful offers for internship from major conglomerates,” E. Abraham, Director of XLRI, was quoted as saying.

While XLRI maintained its stronghold as a human resources and marketing talent destination, it witnessed a steep 33% rise in the number of offers made in finance.

Apart from usual private equity firm Carlyle Group, which recruits its summer interns exclusively from XLRI, a European hedge fund, a Singapore-based venture capital firm and the World Bank also hired for the first time from the institute this year.

The consulting domain too saw The Boston Consulting Group, KPMG, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, etc, participate. Technology and e-commerce also saw some key recruiters such s Amazon.com, Flipkart, Microsoft, Cisco offering roles in programme management and HR.
