IndiGo just raised its cancellation fees: Here's what you will have to pay

Budget airline IndiGo, India’s largest domestic airline with a market share of 37.1 percent, has revised its cancellation policy and imposed a higher fees on passengers who cancel their tickets 2-48 hours before departure. While earlier there was a flat cancellation fee of Rs 1,500 per person on domestic routes, respectively, the airline has now hiked the cancellation fees as follows: 1. If you cancel 30 days or more before scheduled departure, you will have to shell out Rs 1,250 per passenger per segment 2. If you cancel 7 to 30 days before scheduled departure, be prepared to pay Rs 1500 as cancellation fees 3. And 48 hours to 7 days before scheduled departure, the cancellation fees will amount to Rs 2,000 per passenger per segment 4. While passengers who cancel 2-48 hours before flight will have to forego Rs 2,250 per segment on domestic routes. Reuters[/caption] If the booking is changed/cancelled after 1830 hours on 29 April: Only government/ airport taxes and fees will be refunded. If the booking is changed/cancelled between 27 April 2031 hours and 29th April 1830 hours: Rs 2,250 per passenger per segment. If the booking is changed/cancelled between 22nd April 2031 hours and 27th April 2030 hours: Rs 2,000 per passenger per segment. If the booking is changed/cancelled between 30th March 2031 hours and 22nd April 2030 hours: Rs 1,500 per passenger per segment. If the booking is changed/cancelled before 30th March 2030 hours: Rs 1250 per passenger per segment For international routes, tickets that are cancelled 4 hours to seven days before departure, will attract fee of Rs 2,500. IndiGo will continue its policy of levying a no show charge (where passengers only get taxes and government fee in refund) if tickets are cancelled within two hours of departure. The above fees will apply for bookings that are made on or after 1 April 2015 only. For any bookings made before this date, the old Fees (Rs 1,500 for Domestic and Rs 2,000 for International) will continue to apply. The move comes just a day after the airline announced another fare war with one-way airfares starting at Rs 1,345. The airline is offering this scheme on certain routes such as Delhi to Goa, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata and Jaipur. All-inclusive one-way fares are “valid for bookings made 90 days before travel date”.
