Ahmedabad:Professor Ashish Nanda has beenappointed as the new director of Indian Institute ofManagement, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
Nanda, a professor at Harvard Law School, will take chargeon September 2, an official statement said here today.He will be the first director from an internationalinstitute to head the premier business school.
“With Nanda’s appointment as director, I am sure theinstitute will grow from strength to strength,” Board ofGovernors and IIM-A Society chairman A M Naik said in astatement.

“An institute alumnus with an impeccable academic record,with decades of experience in leading international schools,he brings the right mix of international experience andfamiliarity with IIM-A,” he said, while announcing Nanda’sappointment.
An alumnus of IIM-A’s 1983 batch, Nanda is a goldmedallist from both IIT-Delhi and IIM-A. He completed his MAin Economics and PhD from Harvard University. He has alsotaught courses at Harvard Business School and Harvard LawSchool.
Nanda’s appointment comes as part of the IIM-A Board ofGovernors’ efforts to have a global board.IIM-A’s officiating dean Ajay Pandey would continue beinterim director of the business school till September 1.
