Almost a week after a riot broke out at Maruti’s Manesar factory, killing a general manager and injuring several others, the Haryana government has appointed special prosecutor KTS Tulsi to probe the violence.
The probe is likely to last for ninety days, but Tulsi told CNBC-TV18 that he will try and wrap it up faster as Maruti has stated that the plant will only be reopened once the SIT probe is completed. The special prosecutor is also going to take weekly updates from the special investigation team (SIT) on the status of the probe.

Instead of relying on the internal probe conducted by Maruti Suzuki, Tulsi is likely to base his views on the investigation that will be conducted by SIT.
More significantly, Tulsi also said he will ensure the guilty, who caused the death of Maruti’s HR Manager at the Manesar plant is handed over capital punishment.
According to Tulsi, last week’s mishap will definitely have a negative impact on the investment flow into India.
Tulsi said, “This incident is capable of making foreign investment much more difficult, if we are not able to punish the guilty. Competent investigation must be carried on and we must make sure that those who are responsible for the murder are awarded a death sentence.”
