As the Malaysian low-cost carrier looks to kick start its operations in India from September, its recruitment drive got a thumping response.

Getting right hands for its Indian operations is unlikely to be a big task for Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia.

According to areportin _Mumbai Mirror_today, a recruitment drive by the airline got a thumping response on Saturday as 3,500 people turned up for 100 poositions. An The Economic Times report earlier said that the company was expecting 5000 people.

Malaysian low-cost carrier looks to kick start its operations in India from September**.** Earlier this month, Air Asia received formal approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to launch an airline in the country in association with the Tatas, paving the way for the companies to move the sectoral regulator DGCA for an air operator licence.

The company also threatened Indian rivals including IndiGo and SpiceJet which operate some flights internationally when it announced ‘zero rupee’ fares to Indian cities on international routes within Asia.
