Foodies in India have a lot to look forward to in 2014 and beyond as international high-end restaurant chains bring their critically acclaimed cuisines to our shores.
Manhattan’s legendary fine dining restauarnt, Le Cirque, today told the _ Times of India_that it would focus on expanding in India before turning an eye to China.

While talking about expanding the wallet-friendly Le Cirque Signature chain to Bangalore and Chennai, after Mumbai, Mario Maccioni, whose father Sirio opened the first Le Cirque in New York, said,“The rising income of people here demands that we bring up the nation’s dining experience”
Le Cirque has an exclusive partnership with the Leela chain of hotels, that houses the Delhi and Mumbai restaurants.According to the article a meal at Le Cirque will set a person back anywhere between Rs 6,000-7,000, which isn’t that affordable. It makes you wonder how big a hole a meal at the more high end Le Cirque in New Delhi will burn in your pocket.
Judging by the presence of luxury restaurants like Akira Back and Arola, Indians don’t seem to mind spending on food. Food critic Rashmi Uday Singh told the_ Wall Street Journal,_ “People are willing to spend more than even before, because restaurants are fast replacing other forms of entertainment…Just like we no longer need to go abroad to buy Reeboks, we no longer need to go abroad to eat fine food.”
