The portal will be a connecting point for specially abled people who want jobs and companies who are willing to give them jobs. "These people have skill sets so unique that it can add immense value to the organisation," CII Industry, Piruz Khambatta, Chairman, CII (WR) CSR Sub-Committeesaid.

Speaking at the inaugural session of CII Industry, Khambatta said that there was an immense need to bring together the various stakeholders and create a platform for industry to connect with NGOs. Identifying this need CII has conceptualized an Industry - NGO Connect.

The NGO Connect initiative will also attempt to reach out to individuals and organisations, by integrating them with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aspirations of corporates, for attaining the goal of inclusive and sustainable development through collaborative arrangements.

Khambatta said that he "believes that whole nation should be working towards improving Human Development Index for India to embody the words of JRD Tata who said, "I want India to be a Happy Nation" and this would only happen if industry takes part in nation building through CSR activities in partnership with NGOs."

Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/Middle East/ Southeast Asia) said that the partnership with CII is to create a platform to empower the differently abled and bringing newer better opportunities at their doorsteps. "At Monster we strongly believe in equal opportunity agenda. We are confident that this step will help these specially abled jobseekers to find better and right jobs," Modi said.

"CII's initiative with a launch of a job portal for people with special ability is a step towards creating an integrated platform for engagement of all the stakeholders", said Mr Sanjiv Saraff, Senior Vice President - Investment Banking, ICICI Securities Ltd.

"When we talk about CSR it starts with Individual Social Responsibility (ISR)", said Ms Meera H Sanyal, Chairperson, RBS India Services & Foundation, Royal Bank of Scotland. Sanyal also emphasized that passion is required to bring in change and every individual in his own capacity can help in bringing this change. "This initiative is not about charity this is about creating equal opportunities, Indians are hardworking, entrepreneurial who just require a break which can bring in a big change", added Sanyal.
