“My life between 22 yards in the 24 years, it’s hard to believe that it’s coming to an end,” Sachin Tendulkar said in his farewell speech as the nation wiped tears.
A 16-year-old Sachin made headlines for being the third youngest Test debutant, 24 years ago.
Tendulkar had impressed everyone with the bat by scoring two fifties against Pakistan in Faisalabad and Sialkot, 88 against New Zealand in Napier and 119 versus England at Manchester. And the rest as they say, is history.

His debut on Indian soil came a year later.The venue was Sector 16 cricket stadium in Chandigarh on November 23, 1990, and then opponents Sri Lanka.
Tendulkar’s career in cricket has also coincided with many milestones for India’s economy. As he grew as a player, so did India’s economy. The economy was liberalised, the markets grew and essential commodities cost much much less.
