“Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of creation and of their land’s inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges, or even knows…” No amount of advancements or technological progress can change an integral fact about India that it’s an agrarian nation and agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. Despite playing such an eminent role in the growth of the nation, Indian farmers have been suffering in silence since years. It is irrefutable that the Indian farmer, who is synonymous with hard work, is often not acknowledged adequately for his contributions. Whether it is the wee hours of the morning or late after sunset, under the scorching hot sun or in torrential showers, the Indian farmer never turns his back on sowing seeds and plowing lands. A diligent worker and provider for the nation, the farmer puts his blood, sweat and tears together to make ends meet with whatever little he earns. However, harsh conditions that refuse to leave his life often result in the farmer resorting to suicide. And instead of lending a helping hand, we have been turning a deaf ear to their cries and pleas for a better future. But now, in order to improve the lives of these farmers who toil around the clock and 365 days a year, Mahindra & Mahindra has kickstarted an initiative - #SeedTheRise  in concert with the online community. The initiative aims to collect funds for five non-profit projects that work towards resolving the grievances of the Indian farmers. Mahindra will match each donation made on the website and contribute an equal amount towards the cause to ensure the farmers profit doubly. At the end of the campaign, all contributions will go towards funding causes that help with irrigation, sustainable income for farmers, good farming practices, education of farmer’s daughters and so on.

To be a part of this noble cause, watch the film by #SeedTheRise featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui engaging in an emotional conversation with the viewers and talking about the importance of farmers to our country, their difficulties and ways we can help them see a better tomorrow.
