Ahmedabad: A Mumbai-bound Indigo Airlinesflight, carrying 101 persons, made an emergency landing at the
city airport here today after a bird hit the airplane afterits take off, airport officials said.
“A bird-hit incident was reported with the Ahmedabad toMumbai Indigo flight 6E- 244 with 95 passengers and the sixcrew-members on board soon after the take off from airporthere,” Ahmedabad Airport Director R K Singh told PTI.
The pilot reported the bird-hit incident and flight wasallowed to land back at the Ahmedabad airport, he said.
All the passengers are safe and majority of them haveboarded another flight provided by Indigo Airlines from
Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Singh said.
The official said that since it was a natural incident,no inquiry will be conducted.
Two rotors of the plane were found damaged in theincident, another airport official said.
This is the first ‘bird- hit’ incident near the airportthis year. Ninteen bird-hit incidents were reported in the
year 2010, while 18 in 2011, 13 in 2012 and three in 2013, hesaid.
