Did you know that India’s finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley is the richest minister with assets totaling Rs 72.10 crore, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assets have actually dipped by Rs 40 lakh since his last declaration in April to Rs 1.26 crore reportedly because of the big donation he made to the cause of the girl child in May?
All members of the Council of Ministers, including Modi, have furnished their updated asset details on the PMO website and seventeen of the 22 cabinet ministers are crorepatis.
Modi’s assets include Rs 38,700 in cash, bank balance and deposits worth Rs 1,32,698 and Rs 17,00,927 respectively, Rs 20,000 in bonds, Rs 2,35,000 in NSC, Rs 1,99,031 in insurance policies and jewellery and precious items worth Rs 1,20,980. He owns a house in Gandhinagar worth Rs 1 crore.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh also has declared assets worth Rs 1.25 crore.External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has assets worth Rs 13.58 crore, which include Rs 8.83 crore fixed deposits in her and her husband’s name.
Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu is among the Union Ministers who has the least assets of Rs 20.45 lakh, according to the Assets and Liabilities declared by the Prime Minister and other 44 members of the Council of Ministers.The otherCabinet Ministers who are not crorepatis are Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan with Rs 39.88 lakh, Labour and Employment Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has assets worth Rs 44.90 lakh.Health Minister Harshvardhan has assets of Rs 48.54 lakh, while Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar with Rs 60.62 lakh worth of assets.
Seventeen out of 22 Cabinet Ministers are crorepatis including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
