Union Minister for Railways Pawan Kumar Bansal today presented his maiden rail budget covering aspects of modernisation, revenue generation, expansion, security of women passengers and basic passenger amenities.
The railways is expecting a loss of Rs 24,600 crore in 2012-13.

“Plan at Rs 5.19 lakh crore with a Gross Budgetary Support of Rs 1.94
lakh crore, internal resources of Rs 1.05 lakh crore, and market
borrowing of Rs 1.20 lakh crore, with another Rs 1 lakh crore expected to be raised through public private partnership route,” the minister said in course of his speech in Parliament.
