Andhra Pradesh government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Union Power Ministry, launching the ‘Power for All’ scheme from October 2 in the state.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UnionPower Ministry, launching the ‘Power for All’ scheme from October 2 in the state.

Andhra Pradesh is the third state in the country afterDelhi and Rajasthan where the scheme is being launched toensure 24x7 electricity supply to all sectors (excludingagriculture).

The state government also signed an MoU with NTPC forsetting up a 4000 MW super critical ultra mega thermal powerproject in Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs 20,000crore.

NTPC Chairman Arup Roy Chowdary and AP EnergySecretary Ajay Jain signed the MoU in the presence of UnionMinister of State for Power Piyush Goyal and state ChiefMinister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The state government allotted 1200 acres of land forthe power project which is expected to be commissioned by2019-20.

MoUs were also signed between the state government andthe Union for setting up three solar power parks in theRayalaseema region of AP with a combined generation capacityof 2500 MW.

Another MoU was signed between Hero Motors and thestate Industries Department under which the former will set upa two-wheeler manufacturing unit at Satyaveedu in Chittoordistrict with an investment of Rs 2200 crore.
