P Kishore was arrested for allegedly giving Rs 50 lakh as bribe to Income Tax Commissioner Andasu Ravindar to conceal Rs 60 crore of taxable income out of Rs 116 crore detected by CBI officials recently. Thee three were arrested on August 30, after the CBI contended that there is a possibility of them tampering with the evidence if they were released on bail.
The court reiterated this fact and observed that since the accused were influential people they may tamper with evidence while investigations are still going on.
Meanwhile, Kishore’s lawyers may move the Madras High Court for bail next week.
