In what comes as some good news for women, to mark International Women’s Day, airlines are offering some major discount for their women travellers.

Jet Airways will offer a special 10 percent discount to all its women travellers on base fares for international travel, it announced in a release today.

On domestic services, operated by Jet Airways and JetKonnect, the airline will offer a 10 percent discount on base fare and fuel surcharge (excluding applicable taxes).

To avail the offer, one needs to book tickets for both domestic and international travel online on www.jetairways.com and www.jetlite.com between 8 March and 8 May. The travel validity will be for 11 months.

As a part of this international women’s day initiative, Jet Airways also announced that it will support three Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working on a range of women’s issues by conducting its unique in-flight fundraising drive from 8th to 22nd March, on all its domestic flights.

Jet Airways will contribute the benefits of these in-flight collection proceeds to three NGOs namely - Mijwan Welfare Society that aims at empowering the underprivileged with a focus on the girl child through education, technical skills and employment generation, Save the Children India’s - Women’s Institute for Social Education which provides vocational taining programmes for adolescent girls from marginalised sections of society across Mumbai and Women’s India Trust that focuses on providing education, vocational skills training and livelihood opportunities to unskilled and underprivileged women to empower them with knowledge for self-reliance.

Gaurang Shetty, Senior Vice President - Commercial, Jet Airways, said, “International Women’s Day is heralded as a chance to celebrate past, present and future women. The airline takes pride in participating and honouring women from all walks of life, on this special occasion. Through our unique in-flight fund collection drive, we believe in making a contribution to society, especially towards the welfare and betterment of women from marginalised sections.”

GoAir too announced a special scheme for women travellers. In a release, GoAir said that it will upgrade women travellers to its priority service, GoBusiness, for just Rs 999.

The upgrade, which is at a 60 percent discount than the usual price, is applicable at all GoAir airport check-in counters across the 21 destinations that the airline operates in.

The offer is valid on all direct flight. The booking and the travel period for this offer is between March 7 and March 9.

“We are very excited that GoAir can bring women travellers to choose a service that is sensitive to their needs of comfort, privacy and convenience at a highly affordable value. We strongly believe that GoBusiness as a proposition completely befits the needs of contemporary women travellers,” said Girish Nair, Chief Commercial Officer, GoAir.

GoAir has also extended this celebration to social media by running a campaign, “My Story on the GO” which invites women travellers to share their travel experiences. GoAir will offer free flight tickets to the winners as reward.
