Tanya Dubash, Adi Godrej's older daughter may have a huge head start, but younger sister Nisaba is not far behind and could also possibly be the successor to Godrej.
Nisa, as she is better known, is an MBA graduate from Harvard and has been in the thick of action at the Godrej Group along with her elder sister Tanya and brother Pirojsha. With reports that Tanya isn't keen on taking over the responsibility of heading the conglomerate after her father steps down, many see Nisa as the likely successor.
According to a report in the Business Standard, 35-year-old Nisaba, will now spearhead a new Global Innovation Council at the Godrej Consumer Products. Thiseight-member council will meet every quarter to identify new ideas and lessons from various markets to help the company boost revenues from new products.
Over the last couple of yearsNisaba, who is also the executive director at Godrej Consumer Products, is said to have led the development of the group's FMCG strategy, including creating a five-year roadmap for Godrej's FMCG portfolio.
Forbes has earlier reported that she has her father's ear "and is able to influence his big decisions with her logic". Regarded as persuasive and able to get her way on most things, she's seen by some as Adi Godrej's natural successor.
Nisaba has reportedly also been responsible for pushing the company to expand in Africa, Latin America and South East Asia.She is on the boards of GCPL and Godrej Agrovet, as well as social endevours Teach for India and the Heroes Project.
Tanya on the other hand, is on the boards of several Godrej Group companies including Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Industries, and Godrej Agrovet. She is also the Executive Director & Chief Brand Officer of Godrej Group. Apart from this, she heads the Corporate Communications and Media for the Group and oversees Godrej Nature's Basket, a gourmet food retailing chain.
Tanya is AB cum laud, Economics & Political Science, Brown University, USA, and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School.
