Sahara chief Subrata Roy has sought an extension of ten days from the Supreme Court to seal the deals for his hotels abroad.
Roy moved the apex court on Friday to to allow him to use conference room facilities at Tihar Jail for 10 more days to sell the three Sahara hotels - abroad.
“Negotiations with a buyer are on the verge of collapse and I need to hold talks with three-four other buyers who are in line to buy the properties,” Roy said.
He said that he could not facilitate the sale as there are protests after media reports of Sultan of Brunei keen on buying that have delayed the sale process.
“If time is not extended, the entire deal would be scrapped,” Sahara told the Supreme Court, saying there has been strict opposition to the deal after a report was published on it.
Roy had been allowed to stay in the conference room to enable him to arrange Rs 10,000 crore as security to come out on bail.
He has been in jail since March 4.
