Really? Study claims India has cheapest flights in world

As airlines continue to undercut each other, offering a variety of low cost fares in order to woo flyers, it turns out India is now perhaps the cheapest country in the world to take a flight.

A study by GoEuro estimated the cost in USD of travelling 100 km in a particular country by three modes: bus, train and air. Turns out India is the cheapest place in the world to take a flight thanks to fierce competition between the airlines, but surprisingly enough the study said that train was more expensive. While it may be true of some routes if one takes an air-conditioned coach, India’s second and sleeper class fares may be lower than estimated in the index.
