“With air travel demand growing every hour due to the upcoming festive season, air fares will only tend to increase the longer people delay their bookings. So here is another chance for our customers to be with their families and enjoy festivities together at discounted rates, said Kaneswaran Avili, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet.
SpiceJet on Day 1 of the Rs 499 scheme, which opened on September 1, sold over 1 lakh tickets under this special scheme.
SpiceJet has been one of the most aggressive carriers in offering discount schemes.
SpiceJet started the fare war in January with up to 50 percent discounted fares which was followed up all other airlines including the national carrier Air India. Since then SpiceJet has launched over a dozen discount sales schemes.
According to a report in the Business Standard, SpiceJet is even willing to offer discounts to passengers who travel without check-in baggage as soon as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) clears a proposal.
