Even as the aviation regulator has been frowning upon the unsustainable fare-war, Jet AirwaysGroup on Friday announced up to 50 percent discounts, withSpiceJet following suit.
The Jet offer for pan-India sales begin as low as Rs1,499 on all its economy class domestic networks.“Flyers will be able to enjoy substantial discount of upto 50 percent on the base fare and fuel surcharge, across alldirect destinations on the airlines’ domestic networks,” JetAirways senior vice-president Gaurang Shetty said.
The four-day special fare offer from Jet will be openfrom August 1 to 4, with travel effective from September 1,onwards for all Jet group flights.The SpiceJet offer opens on August 1 and will run up toAugust 4, for travel between September 1 and December 15.
“We are back with yet another super sale offer with faresstarting at Rs 2,099 all-inclusive across all our domestic network. Bookings will remain open from August 1 through 3 andvalid from September 1 through December 15,” SpiceJet said.
Jet said the economy class passengers travelling on itsdomestic network (of both Jet Airways and its low cost arm JetKonnect) will be able to book tickets starting at Rs 1,499inclusive of all taxes. The city-based airline last week hadannounced discounted sales on its international routes alongwith its foreign partner Etihad.
SpiceJet started the fare-war in January with up to 50percent discounted fares which was followed up all other airlines including the national carrier Air India. Since thenSpiceJet has launched nearly a dozen discount sales.
