Mumbai: Some of the top business leaders andtrade associations today came out in support of the UnionMinister of State for Telecom and sitting MP from MumbaiSouth, Milind Deora, who is seeking a third term from theconstituency.
Chairman of the Godrej group Adi Godrej, HDFC chairmanDeepak Parekh and Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of KotakMahindra Bank Uday Kotak issued a joint statement hereextending support to Deora’s candidature.

“His parliamentary and ministerial performance is goodand we have been witness to his integrity, hard work anddedication to his profession. We support his candidature fromSouth Mumbai as an individual,” the statement said.
Deora, in turn, called Godrej, Parekh and Kotak his “rolemodels and mentors” and said he hoped to “continue to liveupto the expectations of the business community as a SouthMumbai representative”.
Vice-President of the Indian Bullion and JewelleryAssociation Prithviraj Kothari, President of Federation ofRetail Traders Welfare Association Viren Shah, HonorarySecretary of Metal and Steel Merchants’ Association Jethmal SBothra, president of Bharat Diamond Bourse Anoop Bhai Mehta,Diamond Bourse Association president Bharat Shah and SurenderSawai, president of Mumbai Textile Trader Association alsopledged support to Deora on behalf of their organisations.
The National Spot Exchange Investors Forum representingsome 13,000 investors who collectively lost close to Rs 5,500crore of their investment in the spot exchange crisis havealso expressed support for Milind Deora, said Sharad KumarSaraf, the forum’s chairman.
