Good news for the recently graduated.

The multi-million dollar packages are back at campus placements with network and services giant Google offering a whopping Rs 1.4 crore annual salary to students at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS)-Pilani.Last year too, the company had announced an annual pay of Rs 1.44 crore for two students it had picked up from the same campus.

Apart from Google, social media and e-commerce firms are upping the ante to recruit the best talent and have increased pay packages by around 20-25 percent this year.

Aggressive recruiters in this segment include Amazon, eBay, Flipkart, Schlumberger and lesser-known startups. Apart from higher pay, these companies are also stepping up hiring.

"There has been more than 40 percent growth in the number of recruiters this year and the Goa campus has seen a 100 percent increase," G Balasubramanian, chief placement officer at BITS-Pilani University was quoted as saying in the Economic Times.

Of the 2300 BITS students eligible for campus placements, 53 were placed in the first two days itself, with the highest domestic package of Rs 23.5 lakh, while Microsoft and Schlumberger have reportedly offered more than Rs 70 lakh packages. However, these postings are overseas. The institute is confident that by the end of April 2015, 100% students will be placed.
