The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of Nandan as CMD, Air India till 21 August 2015 or till the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
The government had on 11 August approved three-month extension to Nandan “with the direction that the process of selection of a new CMD may be completed in the meantime”.
However, the government could not complete the process of appointment of the new CMD following which today’s order was issued.
The tenure of Ramesh Abhishek, chairman of Forward Markets Commission, has also been extended for a period of three months beyond 8 October, another DoPT order said.
Abhishek is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre.
The ACC has also extended tenure of Ashok Kumar Gupta, additional secretary in Department of Defence Production for a period of six months beyond 15 October. Gupta is a 1981 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.
