Confident SpiceJet launches Valentine's Day offer: Book one-way ticket for Rs 1,599

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has started a Valantine’s day special, offering tickets starting Rs 1,599 for one way travel during February 14-April 15. The three-day booking period starts today. The offer titled “We Love You With All Our Heart”, is valid applicable on all direct flights and onward flights on SpiceJet’s domestic network, a press release from the airline said today. “We are thrilled to experience great results for our first sale offer of 2015 which clearly shows the confidence bestowed on SpiceJet. To celebrate this confidence we decided to launch a Valentine’s day sale with all our heart," chief Commercial officer Kaneswaran Avili was quoted as saying in the release. The offer is not applicable on group bookings, it said. This is the second sale the airline is undertaking after Ajay Singh agreed to buyout Kalanithi Maran and KAL Airways 53 percent stake in the airline, in a bid to save it from financial distress. The airline in a release yesterday said that the earlier super sale that concluded on 1 February increased its booking volumes by 400 percent. The government had recently lifted teh ban it had imposed on advance bookings by the airline. According to a report in the DNA newspaper today, there are signals that the low-cost carrier may be finally wriggling out of the difficult situation. The report citing an unnamed officer said the airline is “clearing arrears” of its vendors and was also meeting its liabilites. The earlier offer that sold tickets starting Rs 1,499 had resulted in better cash flow to the airline, thus helping it pay off some of its dues, the report said. “We are progressing well (on salary payment). Salaries of December month have been completely paid off. For January, lower salaries have been paid and progressively employees with higher salary will also be paid. Gradually all will be paid off,” chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor has been quoted as saying in the report.
