Mumbai: Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), the company that provides piped gas to households and compressed natural gas (CNG) to automobiles in the city, said today it will hike prices from midnight tonight by 2.57 percent due to higher input costs.
“Due to increase in overall input costs, MGL is constrained to increase the price of CNG by Rs 0.85 per kg in Mumbai, a marginal increase of about 2.57 percent, effective from midnight of 31 October,” the company said in a statement issued here.
The revised rate for 1 kg compressed natural gas (CNG) in the city will be Rs 33.95.
“Even after the revision, MGL’s CNG remains attractive and offers savings of about 69 percent and 42 percent compared to current petrol and diesel prices in the city, respectively,” the statement added.
