Electropreneur Park (EP) – the first of its kind incubation centre for electronics startups which is supported by DeitY and STPI and implemented by IESA at University of Delhi – makes a clarion call to encourage innovation in the domestic ESDM (Electronic System Design & Manufacturing) space.
Under this entrepreneurship programme, EP will select the best 10 early stage entrepreneurs in ESDM across the country, based on the merit of the project submission and will support them in research and development to accelerate electronics innovation in the country.
The EP initiative will support 50 startups in ESDM space and is expecting to create 5 global companies over a period of 5 years.
The park will focus on IP creation and Product Development to result in increased domestic value addition and will witness a unique integration of academia, industry, government and other incubation eco-system elements.
Ajay Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary, DeitY, Government of India said, “India is set to witness exponential growth and development in the ESDM sector. The initiative is the subset of the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission, aligned with its entrepreneurial and innovation focus. We are hopeful that Electropreneur Park will bring more excitement to the nation’s ESDM landscape and contribute significantly towards building global electronics companies from India in the time to come.”
Ashok Chandak, Member, Project Management Group , Electropreneur Park & Ex-Chairman, IESA said, “Electropreneur Park marks a new era for ESDM ecosystem in India with the rise of entrepreneurship in the nation and provide more impetus to the electronics innovation in the country. The initiative will identify the 10 most promising ideas/ startups in the ESDM space every year and incubate them, with the required nurturing and help them to secure IP for their innovation. This will also bring a start-up revolution in the ESDM space for the first time, with major contributions towards design and component ecosystem, which will strengthen India’s pitch in the electronics manufacturing space.”
The initiative will also provide the selected entrepreneurs with state-of-art laboratories as per international standard, ESDM mentorship by industry veterans and academicians, efficient supply chain and an eco-system that will bring in a bouquet of shared services and facilities to the incubatees like Tax, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Patent Search, Training, interns, business counselling, etc. However, the Electropreneurs will not be charged for any facilities.
EP will also facilitate seed funding for the promising ventures and ensure a smooth transition from an incubatee to a self-sufficient electronics startup.
The incubatees in the EP will form ‘Techno Innovation Club’ for the students from University of Delhi and will conduct regular workshops in campus to inculcate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. The members of the club will get the opportunity to work as interns for the incubatee companies and get exposed to world class innovation and entrepreneurship environment.
