Vodafone has moved on from media agency OMD, which handles the telecom giant’s business globally. The account has now been bagged by WPP’s Team Red, led by Mediaedge:cia (MEC), with annual media spending touching almost a billion USD.

However, in India, Maxus has retained the Vodafone account.
Speaking about the development, Kartik Sharma, MD, Maxus South Asia said, “We are extremely delighted to retain Vodafone, a client who we have partnered with since its inception in India as Orange. With this win Vodafone will now be handled by WPP in 22 markets globally, and India will have access and contribute to key learnings and best practices across these markets. We will ensure we continue to deliver our great service and the Maxus 10/10 client delight vision to Vodafone.”
OMD, a unit of Omnicom Group, defended the account but fell short of reaching the final round. The other agencies that made it to the last round were MEC and Carat.
